Each Mile Station location provides computer use for getting miles of car insurance from the web. Computer assistance is freely given. But if insurance advice is needed, it must be gotten elsewhere from a licensed agent or the insurance company website.*
Free miles: Mile Station will pay for the minimum-liability insurance miles arranged for by car-owners themselves (self-service online) whose situation is described on Page 2.
Sign-up schedule: Mile Station on Manor Road is open four days each month to sign
up new clients.
This September 2010: 3pm - 7pm on Sept. 17 & 20 (Friday & Monday); 10am -
2pm on Sept. 18 & 19 (Saturday & Sunday). Phone 512-695-5136 for appointments
at other hours on these four days. Check back here for
the October sign-up days.
Mile Station is upstairs in Suite E of the white building (entrance at arrow), 3110 Manor Road (A on the map), which is 1/2 block east of the Airport Blvd intersection. (The photo shows how Mile Station looks from Airport Blvd approaching the Manor Road intersection from the south.)
* According to the insurance company website, customers buy miles in advance in 1000 mile quantities, which at a typical 5.50 cents-per-mile price would cost $55. Per-mile prices depend mainly on amount of insurance coverage and driver age. Miles purchased are added to the car's odometer reading and more miles are bought online when needed.
